Commencement 2026
University of Maryland Commencement Ceremony
The University will host its 2026 main commencement ceremony on Wednesday, May 20, 2026 at SECU Stadium, where we will come together to honor the hard work, resilience and achievements of Terp graduates. The main ceremony will feature our commencement speaker, president and other notable speakers and honorees. Students will be recognized as a group with their school or college.
Leading up to and during commencement, graduates are encouraged to share their memories on social media using #UMDgrad. See Terps’ photos and reflections on X and Instagram.
School of Public Policy Commencement Ceremony
The School of Public Policy Commencement Ceremony will take place on Thursday, May 21, 2026 at 9am in the Reckord Armory. The ceremony will feature remarks from our dean and announce the names of each graduate. This ceremony is open to graduates from summer 2025, winter 2025 and spring 2026. A livestream will be available.
Communication
Information and updates regarding the School of Public Policy commencement ceremony and related details are shared with graduates directly via email from sppevents@umd.edu. Review all information especially noting important deadlines.
Regalia
Students are required to wear regalia in order to participate in the commencement ceremony. The deadline for ordering regalia online is April 18. In-person regalia orders are available from the University Book Center through May 20 but purchasing early is strongly suggested to ensure availability of sizing. The deadline for our Gowns for Grads borrow program is April 3.
Accessibility
Accessibility accommodation services are available for commencement. Graduates can indicate their needs and those of their guests in their ticket request form. Email sppevents@umd.edu with questions.
