Center for Global Sustainability (CGS) Associate Research Professor Christoph Bertram and CGS Research Assistant Adriana Bryant presented at the 42nd International Energy Workshop (IEW). This event, hosted by the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), takes place in Bonn, Germany from June 26-28, 2024.
Bertram presented a study on the feasibility of global peak temperature targets given factors such as institutional constraints. The first-of-its-kind multi-model study concludes that a 1.6 C temperature rise is possible even factoring in those constraints. CGS’s Bertram is the lead author of this study.
Bryant presented the findings from her study which focuses on the achievability of greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) targets by the United States by 2035. Bryant’s study concludes that a 65% GHG emissions reduction is achievable by 2035 if the United States pursues high-ambition climate action in all sectors, including energy, transport, and construction.
