Saul I. Stern Professor of Civic Engagement Shanna Pearson-Merkowitz has been selected as this year’s Service Award honoree by the State Politics & Policy section of the American Political Science Association.

The award recognizes service to the section through leadership roles and committee work, along with contributions that support the broader field of state politics and policy. That includes efforts such as maintaining data resources, strengthening research infrastructure and bringing the field into public conversation.

The selection committee cited Pearson-Merkowitz’s lasting impact on the subfield and described her as a highly deserving honoree.

She will be recognized at the State Politics & Policy Conference in Chicago this June.
