Karabelle Pizzigati Initiative Lunch & Learn Series: Child Welfare and Coalition Work

Back to All Events

Join us for the 2025 Karabelle Pizzigati Initiative Lunch and Learn Series. This is a unique opportunity to hear from Diana Philip, Coordinator at the Coalition to Protect Maryland’s Children, as she leads a discussion on the child welfare policy in the State of Maryland.

Philip will provide valuable insights into what’s happening in child welfare policy at the state level, as well as the potential risks and challenges . During the 2025 Maryland General Assembly, CPMC tracked 44 bills related to child safety and the child welfare system. While 13 bills passed into law, another 29 failed to pass - and many for good reasons (two were withdrawn before their hearings). Among the bills filed, several turned into proposed task forces, workgroups, or summer studies to help inform future legislative advocacy and policy reform efforts. This event is a great chance to stay informed and engage in a critical conversation about the future of foster care in our state.

Lunch will be provided. Don’t miss out on this informative and important discussion.
