Dates: Summer 2026
Course: PLCY359M

This study abroad course offers students an immersive exploration of Morocco’s culture, as well as its political and human development trajectories, through the lens of ethical and democratic public leadership. Adopting a multidisciplinary approach—drawing from public policy, political science, economics and history—and integrating both theoretical and practical perspectives, the course critically examines the country’s development challenges and the role of public leadership to overcome them.

A central analytical anchor will be the Arab Spring and its aftermath in the early 2010s, providing a unique context to investigate the role of public leadership in addressing development gaps. Key areas of focus include the role of women and family in Moroccan society, economic development, education and health policies and political institutions such as the rule of law, the State and civil society.

To enrich the academic experience, the course incorporates field visits, interactive sessions with civil society organizations, lectures and participatory workshops.
