Professor Susan Parker has been appointed joint editor-in-chief of the Journal of Development Effectiveness, an international peer-reviewed journal that publishes research on policies and programs aimed at improving development outcomes in low- and middle-income countries. She joins two existing editors-in-chief in helping guide the journal's editorial direction and publication of research that advances evidence-based development policy.
Parker’s research has helped shape the field of development economics through her evaluations of major social programs in Latin America. Among her best-known contributions is her evaluation of Mexico's Progresa/Opportunidades conditional cash transfer program, one of the world's most influential poverty alleviation initiatives.
The Journal of Development Effectiveness publishes research on the impacts of development projects, programs and policies, as well as innovations in evaluation methods. The journal is also broadening the range of research it features, including mixed-methods research and large-scale program evaluations.
