As Assistant Dean of Finance and Administration, Kimberly Schmidt oversees the School’s finances, facilities, information technology and human resources. Schmidt began her role at the School of Public Policy in March 2019 and has since provided strong problem-solving and leadership to address faculty, staff and student issues.
With more than 25 years managing higher education business, Schmidt has a strong background in research administration, budgets and finances. Before coming to SPP, she served as the Director of Administrative Services for the Department of Psychology within the College of Behavioral and Social Sciences and has been on campus since 1995. In her nine years in Psychology, Schmidt oversaw a number of major projects, including moving the department to a new space and the addition of four academic programs. During her time at Maryland, she has served on many committees and working groups across campus.
Schmidt’s expertise has allowed her to present on higher education business fundamentals to audiences from the National Institutes of Health Grant Specialists to the National College and University Research Administrators.
Schmidt received her MS in management from the University of Maryland University College and holds a BS in accountancy from Miami University.
