Lynn-Marie Edwards holds a master's degree in public management from the University of Maryland, a legal education certificate from the Hugh Wooding Law School, Trinidad, and a bachelor's of law from the University of the West Indies, Trinidad. Prior to joining UMD, she spent four and a half years as an attorney-at-law in public service in Trinidad and Tobago, working in education and at the national judiciary. This experience provided her with valuable insights into diverse public policy challenges, fostering a keen interest in education, administration, policy implementation and management.
Throughout her academic journey, Edwards has actively taken on various roles, each demonstrating her commitment to leadership, service, and higher education. She has served as a graduate assistant, a Do Good Institute ambassador and volunteer, an international orientation leader, a graduate co-chair of the International Student Advisory Board, a graduate representative on the University Senate Student Affairs Committee, and a member of the Brody Board. Her engagement has earned her recognition, including the Graduate Student Distinguished Service Award, and she was voted as graduate student speaker for the 2023 SPP commencement.
Edwards is a member of the University of Maryland's Sigma Circle of the ODK National Leadership Honor Society, the United Nations Association and the Philanthropic Education Organization.
