Xinzhao Cheng is a post-master's research associate at the Center for Global Sustainability, where she primarily focuses on methane mitigation projects within the China Program. Her work includes projects related to coal mine methane reduction, global best practices in methane policy, methane mitigation potential in China, and China-US collaboration on methane mitigation. Her research interests encompass methane reduction, sustainable transitions, emission reduction in captive coal usage, electrification and climate policy analysis. She holds a master’s degree in public administration from the University of Maryland and a master’s degree in business English studies from Guangdong University of Foreign Studies.

The China Program at CGS integrates scientific research, education, policy analysis, and stakeholder engagement to help understand and inform the development and deployment of China’s climate, energy, and environment strategies across international, national, and local contexts.
