Thomas B. Wild

Dr. Tom Wild is an Assistant Research Professor and a senior fellow at the Center for Global Sustainability (CGS). Dr. Wild is a Joint Appointee between the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory's Joint Global Change Research Institute and the University of Maryland’s Center for Global Sustainability, Earth System Science Interdisciplinary Center, and the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. His research focuses on identifying solutions to complex systems challenges that occur at the intersection of disciplines. His research spans challenges in MultiSector Dynamics, including climate-land-energy-water-socioeconomic interactions across scales; hydrologic and environmental systems; and deep decarbonization. This research has contributed to identifying and mitigating food-energy-water tradeoffs and conflicts, developing sustainable hydropower systems, managing fluvial and stormwater quality, equitably sharing transboundary resources, and identifying technological and societal pathways to deep decarbonization. Dr. Wild holds M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from Cornell University in civil engineering, and a B.S. degree from the University of Maryland in civil engineering.
